California Inmate Search

California Inmate Search

To search for detailed information about currently incarcerated persons and the most recent bookings at the prisons and jails, California Department of Corrections & Rehabilitation (CDCR) and County Sheriff's Offices provide online inmate search systems.

It is the responsibility of the CDCR and Sheriff's Office to keep the information contained in the database updated. Sometimes the inmate information may not be accurate, timely, or complete due to the quick change of information as the inmates move through the judicial process. In order to protect victim privacy, Inmate Search may not provide information regarding juvenile offenders and detailed information regarding calls for sensitive service.

There are normally two types of Inmate Search: Search Form and Booking Log (Inmate Roster).

Using the search form, you need to enter the related information in the search fields such as inmate's name, booking number, date of birth, booking date, etc.

Using the booking log, information about all inmates is directly displayed on the web page, or shown as a PDF file. Sometimes there is a combination of a search tool and a booking log that makes it easier to locate an inmate from the booking log.

Generally speaking, Inmate Search provides users with information about inmates such as personal information, booking information and charges.
