How to Use Inmate Locator to Find Inmates in Contra Costa County Jail?

There are two search criteria: Search by Name and Search By Booking Number. If you know the booking number of the inmate, please enter it in the search field. This is the most reliable and accurate way to find an inmate. If you do not know the booking number, please enter both first name and last name in the search boxes. The correct spelling of the names is necessary. Then click the "Search" button at the bottom or enter the "Press" key to get the results.

The search result shows the name and the year of birth of the inmate. Clicking the "Detail" button under the title of "Action", you can get more details about the inmate, including personal information, arrest information, facility information, and bail information.

Contra Costa County Jail

There are three detention facilities operated by the Contra Costa County Sheriff's Office: Martinez Detention Facility, West County Detention Facility, and Marsh Creek Detention Facility.

Martinez Detention Facility (MDF) was opened in 1981 and serves as the primary place of intake for the inmates booked in Contra Costa County. The MDF is a maximum security facility. The inmates incarcerated in MDF are both pre-sentenced and sentenced.

West County Detention Facility (WCDF) was opened in 1991 and is the newest of three detention facilities in Contra Costa County. It is a direct supervision jail that is designed to function as a co-educational and program-oriented facility.

Marsh Creek Detention Facility (MCDF) is a minimum security facility, incarcerating inmates who have already been sentenced after being found guilty of less serious crimes.

Contra Costa County Jail Visitation

All visitors must schedule the visits in advance. Visitors under the age of 18 must be accompanied by their parent or legal guardian. The maximum number of visitors allowed to visit an inmate at one time depends on the individual facility. All visitors should arrive 30 minutes before the scheduled visit time to register.

Before approaching the Visitor Registration Desk, visitors should complete their visitor form. A photo identification must be presented when registering. Visitors should submit to contraband and/or metal detection and a thorough search of all personal items. Please note that there will be no physical contact between the visitor and the inmate. Visitors should check out with the Visiting Desk as they leave the facility.
