San Mateo County Inmate Locator

The San Mateo County Inmate Locator is a search tool provided by the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office, which allows users to search for information about arrested/in-custody persons in San Mateo County jail facilities. All information contained in the database is the most recent information known to the Sheriff's Office. As persons move through the judicial process, information may change quickly. Therefore, sometimes users may not get the accurate information. Due to the exemptions provided under Government Code section 6254(f), some inmates may not be displayed on the website.

How to Use Inmate Locator to Find Inmates in San Mateo County Jail?

You need to enter both the first name (at least one letter) and last name (at least one letter) in the search fields, and then click the FIND INMATE button to get the results. Enter as much information as possible to get more accurate results. You can also narrow the search results by selecting the gender of the inmate. If you are not sure about the spelling of the first and/or last name(s), you can click the "Check box if unsure about the spelling of the first and/or last name(s)" at the bottom to use phonetic search, etc. The search results will show all inmates with the same letter you enter.

Select the one you are searching for from the results, and you will get detailed information about the inmate, including name, DOB, gender, facility, case number, SMCSO, booking number, next court date, projected release date, court docket, bail, and charge.

San Mateo County Jail Visitation

Inmates are allowed two 45-minute in-person visits per week, at most one per day. A maximum of three visitors can visit an inmate at one time. Visitors under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an immediate family member.

All visitors need to schedule a visit by calling (650) 599-3000 and choosing the Maguire Correctional Facility visitation prompt or the Maple Street Correctional Center option at least 24 hours in advance. Visitors should check in at least 15 minutes before the start of visitation time and at most 45 minutes prior to the scheduled visit. Valid government-issued picture identification is necessary when checking in.

Please note that no public visit is scheduled on Mondays.
